Force of Bricks | Satellite Earth Station Intersputnik | Sensys Headquarters (Fobis001) | digital instructions | 2020

I’m proud to present to you my latest commissioned work, the Satellite Earth Station Intersputnik | Sensys Headquarters (Fobis001), which I designed for the 30th anniversary of the Sensys GmbH.

Sensys Headquarters – the Intersputnik‘s History
Neu Golm, also known as the satellite earth station Intersputnik, was the only station which transferred commercial communication data in the GDR, when the country was divided into Eastern and Western Germany. At that time, it was connected to the Intersputnik satellite net in order to relay and receive telephone, television and radio signals. It is located around 50km southeast of Berlin between Fürstenwalde and Bad Saarow.
The eye-catcher of the station is its 12m parabolic antenna, the TNA-57, located on top of the cylindrical main building. The building itself was modeled on a construction scheme called Orbita-2, which is also used in other countries which are connected to the Intersputnik net.
The station was operated between 1975 and 1996. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the Deutsche Telekom took it over and modernized it before it was finally closed in 1996 due to the inefficiency of satellite data transfer. Its electronics have since been dismantled and the satellite earth station now serves as SENSYS’ headquarters.

322 pages of high-quality PDF building instructions made in Studio and PS CC, plus XML partlist to order the parts from Brinklink.
