MOC-53778 Silkwood Street

From The Designer – LegoArtisan

Silkwood Street is a 32×32 modular MOC suite with 3 unique buildings; a tailor’s shop, a carpenter’s workshop and a furniture shop. While the other buildings focus on large 4-5 storey buildings and individual buildings within the 32×32 base plate, Silkwood Street focuses on smaller buildings but with many small details on the exterior and interior. As my favourite YouTuber often says, variety and density. the MOC scenes create a similar scene to what you would see in a town, with interesting buildings and stories behind each scene.

The Tailor’s Show was the first building to be designed. The combination of sandy green, tan and white creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that will make any visitor want to look inside and see what the tailors have to offer. On the ground floor is the workshop with sewing machines, mannequins, fabrics and gadgets. The bright pink and white tiled work may look strange but it fits the theme and works well as it is a clothing shop. On the ground floor is the living space with a bed, kitchenette/dining area and bathroom. It also has a ladder leading to the attic (aka the future Lego room).

The carpenter’s workshop is an old building, mainly inspired by Haig’s cottage (Official LEGO Set 75947). The light and dark grey, tan and brown colours create a stone architectural style and distinguish it from the ordinary simple square building. It is small, but has the basic necessities for a carpenter to make fine furniture. It has a workbench, wall cabinets, wood cutting machine and a drilling machine. On the ground floor is the living space with a bed, kitchenette, comfortable chairs and even a fireplace with a working light.

The owner’s furniture shop is more modern and stylish. It has a clean dark blue and white exterior that exudes a little class and composure. The interior is just as interesting as the exterior, displaying different pieces of furniture for visitors to see and hopefully buy. The ground floor is a continuation of the furniture shop and the top floor is the owner’s living space with a bed, kitchenette and dining area.

An old story

Behind every interesting building there is a story. This is no different. The tailor, the carpenter and the shopkeeper all grew up together in Silkwood Street. The carpenter and the shopkeeper were brothers and had a crush on the tailor since they were children. Now one is holding a wooden ring and the other a gold ring. How this story continues will depend on the creator who builds it.
