The recent sets of Harry Potter have been great to say the least. They are very detailed and could connect with each other almost like modular buildings to create a unique world for both LEGO and Harry Potter fans. However, being dollhouse style, having a smaller scale compared to a modular and their unique footprints make it hard for them to fit into a normal LEGO city; hence, they usually are placed on their own. Then along came Diagon Alley (set 75978) which bridged the gap between the modular buildings and the dollhouse style HP sets. Other HP sets can now be integrated much easier into a city with some modification and re-scaling of the buildings. This the main reason for the creation & combination of Astronomy and Clock Tower.
The A&C Tower has been redesigned to align with the height and overall look & feel of a building in Diagon Alley or modular city but keep its dollhouse style full of details. The design keeps most of the key details in both official sets while making it compact in a 16×32 baseplate that can connect to the other buildings in Diagon Alley. For those LEGO fans who plan to add more unique buildings in their city but don’t have unlimited space, this MOC offers the best of both worlds.
The A&C Tower only uses parts from the official sets 75969 and 75948 plus a 16×32 baseplate. It only requires 1242 from the 1900 pieces of the combined sets which means the remaining parts can be used to upgrade other sets.
Further modification and integration: the creator may choose to further integrate the build by using DBG 16×32 base plate and dark tan tiles similar to the other buildings in Diagon Alley; however, please note that these parts are not included in the 2 mentioned official sets.
